The 2020 Election as of 12/12/20

First, to all election workers and officials from sea to shining sea and beyond, thank you for your service, especially the volunteers.

Definition, Complacency: self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.

As of 5:PM on December 5th, 2020, there were 249 GOP members of the US House of Representatives and Senate. Of that 249, 220 (88%) refused to answer a direct question regarding who has won the Presidential election of 2020.

Those 220 elected public servants would rather burn our Constitutional Republic to the ground than risk their “public service.” That is no public service. Let alone is it a service of public leadership; only the self-service of public deceit.

Several more GOP members are so pitifully deranged as to parrot Trump’s lies that he won. Or they know better, and are perfectly knowingly willing to carry the lie. Those few, whether deranged or willfully corrupt, can’t be justly accused of complacency. So, I’ll spare them the scorn of complacency.

For the 220 complacent Congressional GOP members, each and every one should have their names carved into an obelisk of infamy for all posterity. An obelisk of disgrace bordering on treason.

Let me explain that. It just so happens at this moment in history, the Democratic Party controls the US House of Representatives. If, right now, the Republicans controlled that house of the legislature, and if they behaved the way they are behaving now, they might very well vote to overthrow the electoral college and install Trump as the continuing president. And in my humble estimation, that would be the end of the constitutional republic as it has existed up to this point. All done within the letter of the law, and completely setting aside its spirit. It’s only by fluke - nothing by design - that is saving us from that fate right at this point in history. This is the bullet we’re dodging right at this moment in history. And that only by the happy accident of present democratic control of the House of Representatives. The constitution could be amended to revoke congressional authority for overturning the electoral college. That would reduce this risk for next time around. But in this crazy political climate, good luck getting that done. So, it’s a risk we remain exposed to.

Next to the obelisk of infamy should be another one, twice the size, with the names of the only 27 GOP Congressional members who acknowledge Biden’s victory. I did not vote for Biden. While those 27 GOP members are not acknowledging good news, they’re risking the truth. They are giving public service, even at risk of losing their service positions. That IS public service in the true. And evidently, it’s about a 12% rare minority these days. I wouldn’t bet a dollar that the statistics would be much different if the jack-boots were on the other party’s feet. As a current rule, the people elected at the federal level are the biggest slimeballs in the soup. State & local authorities of both parties have been far more submissive to the spirit of the constitution. The constitution is king - and the state and local officials and bureaucrats have done far better at honoring their oaths than have federal officials. Judges at all levels have held their own. Here’s to an independent judiciary.

Speaking of an independent judiciary, we now (12.12.20) have the infamous Texas lawsuit against the 4 swing states. As a socially conservative, libertarian Texan, I’m humiliated for the affiliation. But so much for that. One more nail in any likelihood that I’d ever return to any GOP alliance for any reason. It’s tempting to want to dismiss this legal goofiness as a massive publicity stunt. If only it were (which it is), and if it were ONLY that (which it is not). It is devastating character-suicide, toxic GOP mis-leadership. Dereliction of Constitutional Responsibility. This lawsuit is an affront to the spirits of the Oaths to the Constitution, if not the actual letter of the law. Nothing less. I don’t know that such a charge can be levelled on any Constitutional grounds, but if so, it’s past time to start levelling and clean house. Plow the GOP/pot into the political landscape as so much fertilizer (to put it nicely) and let something new grow in its place. Disgusting and repulsive. Sedition against the spirit of the Republic. Breaking the country, even more so than it already is.
